Method

According to Toulouse's Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA):

Active pedagogy is based on constructivist and socio-constructivist models.

The constructivist approach to learning emphasizes the importance of the learner's representations. It places these representations at the heart of the learning process, since knowledge is constructed from the learner's previous representations. The learner must therefore question his or her initial conceptions in order to integrate new data. Socio-constructivism emphasizes the importance of social interaction, and points to the need for effective interaction with other learners in the construction of knowledge.

In this sense, learner activity is central to learning. Activity is not an end in itself, nor a means to an end, but a detour to bring about learning. It is in this sense that we intend to use this pedagogy to make teaching more effective and optimal.
