Description International organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, play an increasingly prominent role in efforts to resolve a wide range of global problems and are important elements in the current system of global governance. The course will examine the structures and functions of different types of international organizations (such as the United Nations, NATO, the European Union, and nongovernmental organizations) and explore their role in maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights, and promoting economic development.
